Shaft & Wheel

The turbine shaft is one of the most important parts of a turbocharger. The cast wheel is welded to a hardened shaft by either sonic or electronic beam welding. The shaft is highly polished to minimize friction, and checked to ensure that the piston ring groove width is within tolerance and the shaft eccentricity is within specified limits.
